Deeker's Message of the Week

February 11, 2007

February 14

For the past couple of years I have shared my extreme distaste for Valentine's Day. Perhaps some of you were expecting to click on this MOTW to see a departure from the usual blue color scheme, displaying black and red instead along with flames and blood. Before any of you think that perhaps I have had a change of heart (heh heh, heart, get it?), or that I have been so fortunate to actually have once again made at least a fleetingly successful effort to find love, I haven't. I still despise the day with just as much venom as ever. Since I don't really have anything new to add, however, (other than that I can't stand those fucking E-Harmony ads that come on TV during every damn commercial break, which I have the displeasure of being exposed to year-round), and that my feelings for this wretched day still stand as they have for the past several years, I will simply invite everyone to view the comments I wrote about it in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

This year I would like to take a different approach and focus on the good things about this day. February 14, 2002 was the day I acquired my cat Patches. He has been a very loving and warm feline companion to me over the last five years. Some of you may recall that I nearly lost him (read story here), but after one month of him being missing, he came back home.

Have a good week, everyone! Stay happily and thickly diapered!
