It might seem like we're being mean by not putting pants on him, but he really doesn't know any better and it's just alot easier to change him that way. If he's not having an status-absence seizure, he's somewhat more aware of his surroundings and sometimes he gets ashamed about his diapers (especially the first warm day when he goes pantsless in public after all winter) but I think if we made more of a big deal about hiding his diapers, it would make him that much more ashamed when his diapers are showing. So we just don't put pants on him. I guess modesty is a learned experience.

Amy	18+	David	13	No...David can't help it. He's severely developmentally delayed and has an awareness level of a 3 year old. There's nothing physically wrong with him. He suffers from epilepsy (status absence seizures that sometimes last all day)so somewhere in his brain there must be some structural abnormality but we have not been able to figure out the cause. It's just one of those things and life goes on. Thankfully, I think I'd rather deal with David and his diapers over a boy with normal intelligence who had to wear a diaper out of need. With David, I'm really just dealing with a baby.
