We have used pins sometimes on his disposable diapers, because the tapes come undone so easily. This is especially true with the Wal-mart assurances we used previously. If we use Attends Extended-Wear, they have a cloth-like covering, and the tapes come undone real easily there, so we either use diaper pins or put a pair of plastic pants on over his diaper. I prefer the plastic covering because the tapes don't come undone so easily, so we've been using Attends Retail during the daytime and Tranquility ATN for nighttime. When we use pins, we use 4 pins. We just pin the diaper up where the tapes are.

We order them by the cases at a medical supply service - Tranquility ATN comes in cases of 8 packages of 12. Attend Retail comes in cases of 4 packages of 16. We also buy half cases of Attend Extended Wear. I'd say we usually have about 350 diapers on hand.

Details/comments: I think we tried to potty train David one time or another, but he just didn't get it. They gave him a potty training readiness assessment at school as part of his testing, and the recommendation was made to wait.

We keep David confined in a youth-sized crib at night. Most of the changes are done in the crib. Depending on teh time of day, I pick out a daytime or nighttime diaper and slip it under him. I then untape his messy diaper and open it up. I wipe him down with a wet wipe then I pull the new diaper through his legs to make sure his new diaper is lined up correctly. I powder him and his genital area and then I tape the new diaper in place. Sometimes I put a pair of plastic pants on him.
