The Story of David Mayter (2004)

 Entry 03: R.I.P, William Green

”Yesterday I was lying in my bed…trying to go to sleep. However, I couldn’t…and Mat wasn’t online, so I decided to look through my digital picture albums, just for fun. I usually do, I like to remember some things. That’s why I keep this journal…because I like to write and remember things. Through my picture archives, however, I found an ever-so familiar face…a friend who recently…passed away. It was only a few years ago, I knew him far before I knew Sven, we went to the same Kindergarten class. I still remember him as truly my best friend. He never was strange like Sven, never did anything like Sven…but he is not here anymore. Not in his physical form. Looking at his pictures only kept on making me remember him…which is no problem. I mean, I do want to remember him, and I always will.”

---

“Hey Dave, come check this out!” David heard as he laid in the grass, starring up at the sky.

”What’s up?” he asked as he sat up, looking at a kid with a bike, standing on the nearby sidewalk, near a little bike-ramp made of some wood and a cinder block.

”I can almost do it…just a little bit more and I can do it” the kid said.

”Will! Let me see what you can do!” David and William heard from Sven, standing by a nearby tree.

“Alright, both of you watch” William said to David and Sven as he got back onto the bike.

William spun his bike around, away from the ramp, and went down the sidewalk, out of David’s and Sven’s sight. It wasn’t until a few moments later that they saw William gunning back towards the ramp. Suddenly he launched off the ramp, getting about 3 feet in the air. Just as he was about to get as high as he could, he quickly whipped his foot off the pedal, basically doing a one-footer in BMX terms. Then he whipped his foot back onto the pedal, landed, and rode away smooth.

”OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” David yelled as he ran towards William.

”I got it!” William yelled as he rode towards David.

”Dude, that was SICK!” Sven shouted to William.

”Ha-ha! Thank you, thank you!” William said.

”Alright guys, I’ve got to go.” Sven said to William and David.

”Alright man, see-ya” William said to Sven.

”Yeah, later!” David said.

”Later guys” Sven finished. He then turned around, and rode off towards his house.

”Hey Will, you want to go into my room?” David said smiling and winking.

”Definitely! I need a change” William said, returning the smile.

---

The two walked up David’s stairs, up into his apartment.

”No one’s home right now, my mom should be at work!” David said smiling. ”…but just to be sure, I’ll go check everywhere. Sit around and wait while I go check the house” David continued.

”Okay!” William said back, smiling and eager.

Now at the top of the steps, David ran off while William sat in the door way. He looked around for a bit, starring at the walls. Then William remembered something: what was inside of his pocket. He smirked a bit as he remembered the blue and red pacifier sitting inside of his pocket. Suddenly he stuck his hand in his right-hand pant pocket, and rolled his finger around the nipple.

”Will! No one’s home! Feel free to take your pants off!” he suddenly heard David yell from somewhere in the apartment.

”Alright man! I’ve been waiting for you to say that all day!” William yelled back, laughing.

Without any delay, William instantly unzipped his pants, pulled his pants down to his ankles, and then kicked them off. Now in nothing but boxers, he bent down quickly, and reached inside of his pocket, and pulled out the pacifier he had imagined a few moments ago. He bent back up, starring at it, smiling like a child would. It was dark blue with a bright red ring, and it had a transparent silicon nipple. Suddenly, he popped it into his mouth and began sucking on the pacifier, extremely contently. Then he remembered his boxers, and suddenly pulled them down to his ankles like he did with his pants. However, when he kicked them off, he was not naked…not completely. He looked down to find himself standing in a, rather wet, diaper…

”You sure don’t believe in wasting time!” he heard David say from in front of him, laughing.

”Nope!” William said back as he bent back up to face.

Just like William, however, David was standing in nothing but a diaper, the same brand as William’s: a Goodnite. It too, was wet. He beamed a smile towards William, and William beamed a smile back.

”You know Dave, you really should get a pacifier too, like me” William said.

”I know man…I’m going to, sooner or later” David said back.

William laughed a bit…”Well, I guess until then, I’m gonna have to change you, and you change me”

”Okay” David said with a smile.

Without any hesitation, William stepped towards David, and David, did the same. They walked towards each other, both grinning and wearing nothing but wet diapers, until they wear standing at each other’s feet in the middle of the dining room.

”You first” William said.

”Okey!” David said, slowly lying down on the floor.

William bent down on his knees, in front of David…and was about to tear the sides of David’s diaper, when suddenly…

”Wait” David said.

”What?” William asked curiously.

”You’re forgetting the baby wipes, and the baby powder” David said laughing.

“DOH!” William said, dumbfounded and laughing a bit, too.

”Okay then, I’ll be right back!” William said, standing back up and jogging off, towards David’s room. David laughed a bit as he heard William rummage a bit through his room. However it wasn’t too long after that he finally heard William jogging back to David, holding a thing of baby powder, and a box of baby wipes.

”Got it now!” William said excitedly.

”Yay!” David said back, laughing.

”Alright, so let’s try this one more time” William said.

William, once again sitting on his knees, once again put his hands on David’s sides on his diaper, and slowly tore them from the top, to the bottom. When he was done tearing both the sides at the same time, he pulled the front down to the floor, making David lying naked on the floor. William simply smirked a bit, and grabbed a baby wipe from the nearby box, and began to thoroughly wipe David. Then, he pulled the torn diaper out from under David, tossed the used wipe in it, and rolled the diaper up and tossed it to the side. And after that, William took the baby powder, and sprinkled some all over David’s diaper area, and then thoroughly applied it around his area. Finally, he took David’s new diaper, and began to slide it up David’s legs (like putting on underwear while lying down). David sat up.

”Thank you, Willie!” he said, smiling.

”Anytime, Davie!” William said.

---

”Anytime, he said…you know how much I wish that was true. Will was such a cool guy, I mean, really just the coolest person I’ve ever known. I told him about my diapers, like I did with Sven yesterday. Will was just too cool though, he had actually wanted to try them on, and he ended up becoming a diaper-lover, like I was at the time. It was he who decided to become a teen baby…he said “Hey, since we’re both in diapers, we should go the rest of the way!”

---

It was now about one week from that night. It was Sven, Jason, and David, all sitting in his living room…

”You know what I just noticed?” Jason asked the whole room, sarcastically.

”What?” David asked.

”It’s really freakin hot in here” Jason responded.

”You know what I just noticed?” Sven asked, sarcastic also.

”What?” David asked again.

”You’re a fucking idiot” Sven said, laughing.

Jason began to laugh with Sven hard. It was because of the laughter that they didn’t notice the phone ringing…

”So what should we do? I mean, we could go to the pool, go to the park, go bike riding, hike...” David began.

”Or we could just stay in here on the couch” Jason suggested.

”Personally I don’t care what we do…I’m bored out of my mind” Sven said.

”Yeah, me too” everyone said in agreement.

”Guys” they heard coming from David’s mom.

”Guys, I have some…some seriously terrible news…this isn’t a joke, not a prank or anything like that” she said.

”…what’s up?” David asked.

”Guys…William…he uh…he was in an accident” she said.

”Well is he okay?!” David asked concerned.

His mother only breathed in deeply, until finally saying…”No…no, David, he isn’t…he um…he passed away sometime yesterday.”

The room was silent, for what seemed like days, but was only a few short seconds…

”I know this…is hard on everyone, but his mother wants us to go to her house for a few minutes. In the hospital, he requested that she give a few items to you guys” she continued.

”…you’re kidding, right?” David asked, stepping forward.

”David…no…I’m not kidding” she said. And as much as he didn’t believe her, or at least didn’t want to, he couldn’t deny the possibility that William may indeed be dead. The one thing that truly began to convince him was the look on his mother’s face. The seriousness in her eyes were too filled with emotion to be acting.

”…Jason…Sven…I think she is for real” David said, turning and facing Jason and Sven.

---

However, later on that day, they would learn that if it wasn’t true, it would be one hell of a great prank. They arrived at William’s house where his mother waited up in his room…

”Hi guys” William’s mom said, sitting on the edge of his bed. She looked as though she had been crying for quite a while.

”Hi…Mrs. Green” David and everyone else said. Everyone else being, David and his mother, Jason and his parents, and Sven and his parents, that is.

”I know I called you all here…in the hospital, William had requested that I give everyone a selected amount of little items of his to remember him by…” Mrs. Green said.

”…okay” everyone said.

Mrs. Green turned around, and grabbed a piece of paper from behind her. “Okay…David” she said. “To my best friend, to whom I shared the best times of my life with, I give to you the two most secret items.” She read to the room.

”Okay…” David said.

Mrs. Green turned around again, leaving the list in her lap. Finally, once she turned around, she revealed to him to two items. One, was a small white box, inside of it was unknown. The second item was to his surprise, a red wire frame notebook, in pretty good condition. She handed the box and the notebook to David, letting a tear drip down her cheek.

”David, he has several more notebooks like this. After this, I will give them to you. William just said that you MUST have this particular one, no one else.” Mrs. Green said.

”I understand” David said, staring down at the red notebook.

”Okay” Mrs. Green said, leaning back onto the bed.

David stared down at the notebook and at the box, and began to feel his eyes swell up as he began to fully comprehend the situation. William really was dead, he would never be heard from again. His longest and best friend really was gone, forever. He then slowly slid down the wall he was standing against, until he was eventually sitting against the wall, still holding the box and notebook. As Mrs. Green called off Jason’s inherited items, David slowly opened the box, but only a little bit. He wanted to make sure that what was in the box was really what he thought it was. He slowly pulled up the top of the white box, and peaked inside. From just a one-inch opening, David could see what he believed it was going to be: a pacifier. But it wasn’t just that same pacifier from the other day; there were other things in there, too. He could see a bit of a bottle’s nipple, and even a diaper or two underneath all of it. Quickly David closed the box up, and gently set it aside so that he could examine the notebook. He slowly folded the red cover back, revealing a page of paper with few words on it:

”JOURNAL 2002 - “ is what it said, an uncompleted sentence, and one never to be completed. David slowly passed the page, and looked at the next page. This time, it was a journal entry marked early in the year 2002. As David read the long entry, he began to slowly cry. The journal entry was written about David and William chilling out, and having a good time. The funny thing was, David could remember exactly what William was writing about. He remembered the recorded day so well. However, it wasn’t too late after reading a few paragraphs from the entry that David found himself crying more and more each sentence. Suddenly David shut the notebook.

”Are you okay?” he heard his mother whisper to him.

David nodded a bit, “Yeah” he said, wiping a tear from his cheek..

”David” he heard coming from Mrs. Green’s voice.

”Yes?” he asked.

”I’ll get you those other journals now” she said. Her eyes were now bloodshot from crying, and her cheeks were very wet.

”Okay…” he said.

---

David was now alone, in his room, in the dark. It was now about midnight or so, the exact time was unknown. David was sitting against his wall; next to him was a stack of notebooks, all of William’s old journals. Sitting in front of him was a notebook from the pile, though it was only a few pages in. And to his left, there sat the familiar white box, now empty. Resting around it was the familiar pacifier, a baby bottle with a bright red ring (the thing that holds the nipple to the bottle), along with a few bottle cleaners and one or two diapers. In conclusion, David was surrounded by William’s belongings. David took his head from his hands, and looked back to the journal, and slowly shut the notebook. Tears were running down his face, and his eyes were bloodshot. He sighed deeply, stood up slowly off of the bed, and walked to a desk a few feet from his bed. Guided by the light coming from the desk-lamp, he rummaged a bit on a shelf which was built into the leg of the desk. It took him a few moments of digging through miscellaneous things, but eventually he pulled out a blue notebook, the same style as William’s, only blue. He gently placed it on the top of the desk, and adjusted the light to point onto the top, instead of towards his bed (since he was reading William’s journal). Then, he sat down on the chair, pulled a pencil off of the desk, opened the blue notebook and starred at a blank page: the first page. Finally, he wrote the few words up top of the page:

”In loving memory of my best friend, William Green”

Then, a few lines below that…

”Journal #1, 2002 though…” he finished…

---

”So yeah…that’s how I got into writing my journals. Anyways, that was two long, long years ago. As I wrote this journal entry, I couldn’t help but find myself with tears in my eyes. I still miss him…no one, and I mean NO ONE will ever be such a great friend like he was. Anyway, it was about a week or two after William’s death that his funeral was held. We were invited, and we went. I swear I hadn’t cried that hard ever in my entire life…and I never want to again….and I pray that I won’t. Will…wherever you are…I miss you…”
