Spunky, the cat that was a big part of my family for the past 18 years, departed this past week. He is very greatly missed. He brought lots of love and joy to the family, and everyone loved him as much as he loved people. He was a very loving and affectionate cat. He showed up at the back door on a cold, drizzly November day in 1984. I was 14 at the time and in the ninth grade. He was so cute and he had such a charming mew and a sweet little face that there was no way we could do anything other than to bring him into the warm house and let him eat and rest. The whole family instantly fell in love with him. After we determined that he didn't belong to anyone else in the neighborhood, we claimed him as ours and named him Spunky. While living with my parents he often slept on my bed with me and greeted me in the mornings. He purred for me every time I held him. I have lots of memories of this magnificent cat. I know things won't be quite the same without him.
