Boy Diaper Sightings Report- November 2005

This sighting took place in a shopping mall in London. I was waiting whilst my wife tried on some dresses and I was very bored. I sat on a chair near the door of the shop and saw a woman and boy walk past. I would estimate the woman to be in her thirties and the boy to be around 12 or 13, to judge by his size. I only noticed the boy because of the way he was dressed. He was in shorts that were covering something bulky and was dressed more as a little boy than for his age, with white knee-length socks and side-buckled red sandals. He was being lead by a strap attached at one end to his wrist and at the other to the belt around the woman's jacket. He was tarrying a little and she was tugging him along as you would with an awkward child that won't keep up.

About ten minutes later I saw them again as my wife and I entered another shop. The woman was in a queue by the till, still with the boy on his lead, and she was buying a girl's dress. To my eye it looked to be about the same size as the boy, but that might just be coincidental. At any rate, the boy was looking at his shoes and avoiding eye contact with anyone. As I passed by him I glanced out of the corner of my eye and swear I could see maybe an inch of plastic pants above the waist of his shorts at the back. His t-shirt was a little scrumpled too, as if it has been hastilly stuffed back into his shorts after a nappy check.

I am a student nurse taking NUR 327 - Community Nursing this semester. One of my cases is Paul who is 11 yr old boy who has been slow to develop physically and emotionally. He he a small bladder and has frequent accidents. He also has an unusually small penis which has beed diagnosed as Microphallus. I have discussed Pauls case with his pediatrician and her recommendation is that Paul should not be circumcised until such time as Paul matures and reaches puberty.

There are tradeoffs with all medical treatments. Paul has penis that is barely 1.40 centimeters long from base to the tip of foreskin. From its base to the tip of the glans is only 1.35 centimeters long. Because Paul has not yet matured sufficient to control his wetting, his uncircumcised penis becomes inflammed and painful. My nursing care plan calls for me to measure any increases in height, weight, and changes in the length of bones between certain joints each week. I also measure his penis for any signs of growth and maturity.

Pauls mother is a waitress and works nights sand until recently she has relied on her mother and younger sister to stay with Paul. But Paul grandmother recently remarried and moved to Florida and in late September, his Aunt just gave birth to her first child and she is unable to care for her daughter and nephew.

Luckilly, I helped instruct a "Safe Sitter" class this summer to a Girl Scout Troop in Paul local area. There was one great student named Kim. Kim is very tall, with long black hair blue eyes and she she looks quite a bit older than her 13 year age. Kim is had a great deal of experience with babies and children. Kim is beautiful and bright and was the best student in the class. She is very smart with obvious maternal instincts and loves children. I recommended that Pauls mom contact Kim to arrange an interview. I was so pleased but not at all surprised that Kim was hired.

Pauls Mother, Shelly and I arranged to have Kim meet Pauly during my regular Thursday appointment on October 20. Paul was very polite and it was clear that he liked Kim and they chatted nicely while took his vital signs and measured his measured his metarsals. Paul seemed to be in good spirits so I was a bit surprised when he an oral temp of 99.9

When it was time for Paul to lie on his bed so that I complete his check up, Paul began to weep softly as his mother removed his Pants. Shelly removed his jeans while Kim sat next to him and stroking reassured him with kind words and in a few short moments Paul had calmed down. At that point I removed Pauls underpants and it became clear why, he was running a temp. Pauls little penis had become inflammed again and he had bladder infection.

I immediately put Paul over my knee to take a more accurate rectal temp which was at 101.1. Shelly called the pediatrician who prescribed antibiotics. I gave Kim what amounted to a refresher on how to treat diaper rash on an uncircumcised baby. I dipped a Q-Tip in Hrdrogen Peroxide inserted it in the tiny opening of his foreskin and swabbed around the glans gently. Next, I dipped another Q-Tip in a topical steroidal anti-bacterial cream. This time I had Kim swab his penis and then rub some more cream on the outside of penis and his bottom area. I looked over at Shelly and we both smiled watching Kim who was so loving, tender and gentle.

I'm saving for college so I babysit for some of my mum's friends. The boys are 11 year old twins with really good manners and never play me up or anything like that. I've babysat them five times and I get them ready for bed at 9.30 p.m. I won't say what their names are because I don't want to embarrass them but they are both bedwetters and their mum wants them to stay in nappies for now. I used to look after my baby brother for my mum and he wore disposable nappies, which were easier to change. The first time I babysat for the twins their mum had to show me how to fold and pin a terry nappy and my first attempts were too loose but now I'm a lot better at it and the boys don't giggle anymore because their nappies slip down.
