My problem is my 4-year-old cousin Kenny. He is staying with us for a month because my aunt is on a business trip. My mom said he has to sleep in my bed with me because there is nowhere else he can sleep. I don’t mind except for one thing--…Kenny is not completely potty trained. During the day he pees in the potty but will not poop, so he holds it in. I have tried to show him there is nothing to be afraid of. I take him to the bathroom with me to watch me poop. He watches but he will not do it himself. The problem is at night he has to wear diapers to bed because he has pee-pee accidents and he also poops in his diapers during the night. Every night at around 10pm I he wakes me up with his grunting. I can hear him grunt and I can hear the poop filling his diapers. After he is done I cannot go back to sleep because of the horrible stench. His poopy diapers stink so bad. My room smells like a poopy, pee pee, and baby powder. Sometimes it almost makes me sick. And because he holds it in until he has diapers on, he often does a very large load of poopy in his diapers during the night. He wears 2 Pampers with plastic pants over them. Also, every time he moves in bed or rolls over, I can hear his diapers and plastic pants crinkling. This keeps me awake, too. I told my mom about it and she says “it’s only for 20 more days you can put up with it that long”. I asked if I could sleep on the couch but my mom said “no, just deal with it”. He knows what he is doing. He can pee on the potty but he will not poop. I have heard kids his age just like to feel naughty and that’s why they wait until they have their night diapers on to poop. Some kids like the feeling of warm mushy poopy and pee pee in their diapers. Ask him if he likes wet poopy diapers. If he does you have a problem and like your mother said “just deal with it”. If he doesn’t like the feel of wet, poopy diapers on his bottom try this: When he awakes you with his grunting put the palm of your hand over his bottom and feel the poop as it is being pushed into his diapers. When he is done push the palm of your hand firmly into his mushy load. Squeeze and pinch the poopy in his diapers. Rub it all over his butt, push it between his legs and squeeze his thighs together. Rub the poopy all over, up and down his wee wee until he has an erection. Make sure that poopy gets squished everywhere in his diaper. It will stink very bad but if he is uncomfortable with poopy everywhere in his wet diapers he may be encouraged to use the potty next time he has to poop. If it turns out he becomes aroused by squishing his wet dirty diapers then I would either tell your mom to change him right away so you can sleep or join him. That’s right, put diapers and plastic pants on yourself and poop and pee in them and wake him up and see how he likes your stinky diapers. Make him rub your wet, dirty diapers and see if he enjoys it then. Just be sure you get rid of the evidence and clean yourself up before your mom wakes up. My advice would be to stash your wet, dirty diapers in bottom of the trash and stash the plastic pants back where you found them unless you like the way your wet, dirty diapers and plastic pants feel. Just be sure to hide any diapers and plastic pants you may want to keep for future use in a safe place. I think you may come to enjoy not only your stinky diapers but your cousin Kenny’s as well.
