Goodnites Sales- Boys Vs. Girls

Back around September of 2004 an email exchange between a parent and me led to her challenging the notion that boys are more often bedwetters than girls; this in spite of the fact that her own son, but not her daughter, was a bedwetter. She backed up her claims by citing several examples of girls she had known to have wetting problems. While there may be a few notable exceptions here and there, the fact still remains that boys still outnumber the girls when it comes to bedwetting.

To further back up my own contention that boys still reign the supreme bedwetting champions, I appealed to a friend who works as a manager in a fairly large retail chain with its stores located mostly in the midwest and western United States. He compiled some data from the sales of Goodnites products in the store he manages over a period of several months, and gave me a few numbers to help support my contention. For this I would like to sincerely thank him for his time and his efforts. In addition I also asked some other people to check out the sales of Goodnites. They, too, were also able to confirm that the boys' Goodnites outsell the girls' Goodnites by a considerable margin, thus further corroborating my notion, and more importantly, physiological fact. Below is a table showing the data presented to me:

I have also produced a bar graph to show these data.

Notice how sales spike for September? This is believed to be due to the increased "back to school" traffic found in the store at the time.

Anyone else who is a retail store manager or who has access to such data is welcome to submit his or her own findings. The more samples I collect, the better.
